School-based Medicaid is complex and you can easily find yourself having an unsuccessful audit and barely breaking even financially if your special education processes and financial systems aren’t well managed. If your program is well managed, you will be able to maximize your potential revenue, have increased compliance, and easier annual cost reporting and cost settlement audits. This course will provide you with an understanding of the various processes involved in Medicaid reimbursement as well as key compliance areas, data, and tools you will need to run a successful program. Course length: approximately 45 minutes.
Your Instructor
Monica joined the Co-op in 2009 to lead the organization’s work around school based Medicaid and transitioned into the role of Deputy Director in 2011 to develop and manage the Co-op’s ELEVATE program and other member services. A problem-solver and advisor by nature, Monica enjoys working to develop programs that meet schools where they are and provide the necessary tools and supports to move them forward. As part of DC's state team for the Healthy Schools Promising Futures Learning Collaborative, Monica works with the Department of Health Care Finance, OSSE, and other city agencies to ensure that charter schools have access to funds for critical special education programming through Medicaid reimbursement. Since 2014, Monica has helped the charter sector recoup over $15M in Medicaid funds.
